The 10 Affirmations All Women Should Tell Themselves Daily! http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=48

Rule Number Two: Find confidence from self-approval.

You are human with flaws, and not everyone will love, appreciate or approve of who or what you are. Make peace with this. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself to measure up to the unattainable ideal in your head, and instead, use this energy to give the woman in the mirror the same unconditional love and support you give so freely to others.

Rule Number Three: Learn to forgive and let go.

Learn how to admit your faults and how to forgive others for their own, as well. Come to understand that it is better to build bridges instead of walls, but know when you need to just let go altogether.

Rule Number Four: Appreciate the basics.

Stop engaging in self-destructive behaviors and be grateful for the simple things you’ve been blessed with. When you recognize the power of loving versus hating, you’ll demonstrate it through kind words, genuine smiles and thoughtful gestures. Laughter is energy for the soul, so make it a point to create time for fun.

Rule Number Five: Feel secure in your relationships.

Learn to see people as they truly are and not as you want them to be. Once you become cognizant of your own insecurities, don’t project them onto your relationships. Understand that they will not be fixed by the person lying next to you. Come to terms with the fact that both relationships and people change and that is why you cannot determine your self-worth by the amount of love you are given.

Rule Number Six: Strive for self-love.

Your actions towards others are a reflection of how you feel about yourself. Strive to accept others as they are, while tending to your own needs. Finally release yourself of external forces and enjoy spending time with just yourself. You’ll realize you’re capable of new things.

Rule Number Seven: Practice mindfulness.

Stop looking to the other side of the hill for greener, better, happier things; it will never leave you satisfied. Give thanks for and recognize the abundance of all that’s good and positive in your life, rather than fixate on what’s lacking. If you live in the present, you’ll always feel fulfilled.

Rule Number Eight: Be proactive.

Take responsibility for yourself and understand that you have to pave your own way in this world. You have the building blocks for success, but it’s up to you to use them. Have the courage to do what’s right for you.

Rule Number Nine: Open up to experiences.

Living life to the fullest means you’re exuding positive energy and remaining open to every opportunity. The universe will never throw you an obstacle you’re not strong enough to overcome. Remember, good things come apart so that better things can come together.

Rule Number Ten: “Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to give you the flowers.”

Ten Best Foods for Hair http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=47

Ten Best Foods for Hair

“Healthy diet is as good for the 200,000 hair follicles on your head as it is for your body”, having a proper balanced diet not only gives you a healthy lifestyle but also boosts your hair to whole new level with those right amount of those vitamins in your body.

‘You are what you eat’ and that doesn’t just apply to your body or skin this fact also implies on your hair. All who are worried about thinning and falling hair, the best notion to stop that is to concentrate on how healthy diet you consume.

Those expensive products and latest technology promising you that healthy shiny hair are just a rip off, maybe a temporary solution but when it comes to healthy hair it’s not just what you put on your tresses that counts, what you put in your body that counts too, so if you focus on eating that balanced, varied, protein rich diet it will give your hair that strength and shine you desire for.

Here are some best foods that might help you gain that beauty of your hair,

1. Walnuts:

This nut is enriched with omega 3 fatty acids and biotin which helps protect your cells from DNA damage and shield you hair from those ultraviolet rays also too little biotin causes hair loss ,so make sure you include walnuts as a dressing in your salads or to-go-snack.

2. Protein:

Chicken, salmon, eggs are the food rich in protein and protein is exactly what your hair needs to grow. They are enriched with fatty acids, about 3% of hair shaft is made up these fatty acids.so make sure youhave a protein rich meal every day.

3. Beans:

Legumes like kidney beans and lentils must be an essential part of your hair-care diet they not only provide protein but also contain ample iron, zinc and biotin, makes your hair strong, shiny and thick.

4. Carrots:

Yes, your hairs need this Vitamin A! It not only promotes healthy scalp but also a good vision.

5. Whole Grain:

You need to get rid of that processed food from your kitchen and switch to whole grain from whole grain breads to whole grain breakfast cereals to get that sufficient dose of zinc ,iron and vitamin B a healthy hair needs. Whole grain not only helps you get that healthy hair but also reduces those hunger pangs you get throughout the day before meals and reduces your vulnerability towards the fatty food.

6. Dark Green Veggies:

Eat you veggies! Try to load yourself up on those broccolis, spinach and Swiss chard they are not only rich in antioxidants but vitamin A and C produces a sebum which act as a natural hair conditioner.

7. Vegetable Oil:

No one wants that dry frizzy hair! So adding about a teaspoon of healthy oils like olive, peanut, safflower and sunflower can give you that shiny you don’t get from those expensive products.

8. Blueberries:

This fruit is a super hero, vitamin C in it makes your hair strong as too little vitamin C can lead to hair breakage, other alternative for them are kiwis, tomatoes and strawberries.

9. Sweet Potatoes:

They are great source of antioxidant beta carotene, which our body convert into vitamin A and basically no cell of your body can function without vitamin A and this food also sustains the oil necessary for your scalp and prevents dandruff and weak hair.

10. Beef:

If you do not have cholesterol problems, then you should eat this meat at least twice a day, it has all the nutrients which are needed to maintain the health of your scalp and hair.

8 Foods to Make Hair Grow Faster http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=45

Whether you’re in the midst of trying to recover your strands from a misguided cut or simply want longer locks, you may have a hard time patiently waiting for your hair to grow. (We’ve been there.)

Luckily, unlike the watched pot that never boils, concentrating on your hair growth can yield actual results, particularly when it comes to strategic eating.

Here are eight foods that help lengthen your mane, recommended by Harvard and Yale Medical School-trained nutritionist Jayson Calton, PhD, and licensed nutritionist and fitness chef Mira Calton, CN.

1. Salmon:

This fish is loaded with the strong hair supporters like Vitamin D and protein, but it also contains omega-3 fatty acids that promote hair growth by keeping your scalp healthy.

2. Yellow Peppers:

Yellow bell peppers have nearly five and a half times more vitamin C than oranges (341 milligrams, as opposed to 63). This is good news for your locks since vitamin C is an antioxidant that strengthens the hair shaft and hair follicles, as well as prevents breakage.

3. Oysters:

Zinc deficiency has been noted to cause hair loss and poor scalp conditions and oysters are loaded with zinc — just three ounces contain 493 percent of your daily value. But not just any oysters will do: Steer clear of the ones caught in the Gulf of Mexico, which may contain unusually high levels of Cadmium due to the 2010 BP oil spill.

4. Eggs:

Eggs are an excellent source of those aforementioned omega-3s, and they are also contain biotin (which many people trying to grow their hair take in supplement form). But, just so you’re aware, it’s not the egg white that will make your hair long and beautiful, it’s the yolk. Eating too many egg whites can actually block the absorption of biotin into the body, causing a depletion of this micronutrient.

5. Sunflower Seeds:

Just a few little seeds can supply you with an abundance of vitamin E, which will enhance blood flow to the scalp and promote faster hair growth.

6. Sweet Potatoes:

These are loaded with beta carotene, the precursor for vitamin A that not only promotes a healthy scalp but promotes hair growth. But choose foods loaded with beta carotene over supplementing with high doses — like over 2500 milligrams — of vitamin A from retinol since it can be toxic at very high levels.

7. Avocados:

Due to their high concentration of essential fatty acids naturally found in skin cells (which help to keep your skin smooth and supple), avocados are an age-old beauty secret. When topically applied to the hair and scalp, they have the added ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Mix a little avocado with sour cream (which contains lactic acid to help exfoliate dead skin and clean up buildup on the scalp) and apply to your hair and scalp for about ten minutes before washing it off.

8. Almonds:

These nuts will make your hair grow faster and thicker due to their high biotin content. One cup contains nearly one-third of your daily requirement. You should be able to see the results in a month or two of adding them to your diet.

How Gluten can Affect Your Brain, Gut, and Skin http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=44

Ditch Gluten to Improve Your Brain, Gut and Skin

Most people associate gluten sensitivity issues with digestive problems such as Celiac disease and irritable bowel syndrome.  While gluten does have a very negative effect on the digestive system, it also inflames other regions of the body.  The other regions that are often most effected are the brain, joints, and skin.

It is estimated by many researchers, including Dr Kenneth Fine, PhD, that 81% of the population has some level of gluten sensitivity.  This means that the body produces antibodies to some sort of gluten derivative.  This could be to the protein gliadin and its various forms or to a mechanism called molecular mimicry where the body produces antibodies to proteins that are similar to gliadin in its various forms.

Many researchers and health care practitioners believe that everyone on the planet is better off removing gluten from their diets.  When individuals remove gluten they notice significant improvements in brain function, energy levels, breathing, immunity, pain levels, and skin health.

Kicking Gluten Improves your Brain

When we eat foods containing gluten, we increase a protein molecule called Zonulin.  Zonulin works as a gatekeeper in both the intestine and the blood brain barrier.  The more zonulin in the gut, the more permeable the intestinal cells become and the risk of developing leaky gut syndrome increases.

High levels of zonulin also loosen the tight junctions in the epithelium of our blood cells.  This allows toxins and other molecules to slip through the blood brain barrier.  When the blood brain barrier is permeable, it activates an inflammatory response in the brain.

Your Brain Doesn’t Feel Pain but It Still Suffers

The brain itself does not feel pain and chronic inflammation is experienced with symptoms such as brain fog, slow mental processing, anxiety, depression, emotional disturbances, etc.  Over time, a brain that is chronically inflamed leads to neurodegenerative conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease.

Individuals may also form specific antibodies to gluten molecules that mimic other regions of the body.  One of the most common of these molecular mimicry patterns is Glutamate Decarboxylase (GAD) antibodies.  GAD is an enzyme that helps metabolize glutamate and it is key for energy production in major regions of the brain.

Individuals with GAD antibodies often form cerebellar ataxia where they are unable to maintain balance and have very poor coordination.  GAD antibodies are also implicated in type I diabetes, adult auto-immune diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and stiff man syndrome.

When we metabolize gluten, we produce the opiates gluteomorphin and prodynorphin as a result.  These opiates have an addictive effect and can often lead to food addictions to sugar and gluten containing carbs.  People often struggle to come off of these foods due to the addictions.

Dropping Gluten Gives You More Energy

A gluten sensitive individual will constantly be triggering their adrenals to pump out stress hormones every time they consume gluten.  The immune system has to crank up and go into hyper-inflammatory mode, which utilizes a lot of vital resources as well.  This taxes the body of raw materials and sets it up for adrenal exhaustion and chronic fatigue.

By eating an anti-inflammatory diet that takes out food borne stressors like gluten, genetically modified foods, sugary foods, and pasteurized dairy, you allow the adrenals to come down.  This results in better sleep, more energy, and improved stress and emotional balance.

Cutting Gluten Improves Breathing, Joints, and Skin Health

One of the patterns of molecular mimickry is antibodies to transglutaminase.  Transglutaminases are enzymes found throughout the body that bind proteins together and they are also key to the digestion of wheat.  When the body forms an immune response to the gluten molecule, it often creates sensitivity to transglutaminase molecules as well.

Transglutaminase-2 (TG-2) is found in the intestinal lining and antibodies to TG-2 are a marker for celiac disease.  TG2 is a well-known marker for osteoarthritis as well.  This is one of the reasons why individuals with celiac disease also have advanced degeneration in their spine.  Many individuals with non-celiac gluten sensitivity also have major problems with joint pain, rheumatoidism, and osteoarthritis.

Transglutaminase-3 (TG-3) are found in the skin and antibodies can lead to chronic acne, eczema, and dermatitis.  Transglutaminase-6 (TG-6) is found throughout the central nervous system and antibody formation leads to neurological disorders.  Transglutaminase-7 (TG-7) is found in the lungs and antibody formation leads to asthma and other pulmonary challenges.

Give up Gluten and Look and Feel Better than Ever

When you give up gluten and sugar and minimize grains and other inflammatory agents you will notice that you look and feel significantly better.  Your skin will get clearer, your hair will be shinier, your joints will be stronger and your brain will be sharper . Your memory will improve and you will  feel more emotionally balanced.

The benefits of an anti-inflammatory diet far outweigh the momentary glutinous or social benefits associated with eating gluten, sugar, and other inflammatory foods.  Your greatest asset is the body God gave you, and you have to take proper care of it to live out your full potential in life!

Is an alkaline diet the secret to weight loss? http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=43

Your weight, mood and health could be because your body is too acidic. Millie Mackintosh is going alkaline. But what foods should you avoid to be more balanced?

Is your body too acidic? It may sound like an odd question, but according to Ilona Wesle, nutritionist and co-founder of MyDetoxDiet.co.uk, it could be causing you a range of health problems.

"Our bodies are naturally alkaline, but our eating and drinking habits and the stress we endure creates acidity," says Ilona.

"This can cause weight gain, lethargy, bloating, bad skin, a suppressed immune system, concentration problems and all manner of other complaints."

Coffee, alcohol, processed foods, sugar, salt, dairy and too much red meat are all considered acidic for the body, explains Ilona, as well as our long-hours culture.

So how do we rebalance a pH that's out of whack? "Eating a diet that combines both some acid and more alkaline – a 20/80 split, ideally - has endless benefits," says Ilona.

How should you alkalise your body?

1. Swap processed food for fruit and veg

Cut down on the offending articles mentioned above, and introduce a greater concentration of fruit and vegetables to your diet, especially broccoli, fennel, kale, beetroot, lemon, grapefruit and dates.

Alkaline foods take the least effort for the body to digest, which frees up the body to do more important healing work.

2. Reduce your sugar intake

Sugar is a major acid to try and eliminate from your diet, because it's addictive. And the only way to kick those sugar cravings is to alkalise the body and break the cycle of addiction, explains Ilona, because sugar doesn't satisfy for long.

If you're like us and have a sweet tooth, try baking delicious raw chocolate brownies, snack on plain yogurt with manuka honey and nuts, or make yourself a big alkalising fruit salad to dig into during the week - try one with mango, pineapple, melon and kiwi fruit.

3. Swap coffee for green juice

When you're feeling sluggish, it can be tempting to grab a coffee or bottle of fizzy pop, but this is the worst thing you can do for your body, as they're both very acidic.

Even if you do get a short-lived sugar high off that caramel latte or bottle of fizzy pop, you'll come crashing down later and feel even more rotten.

To curb acid cravings later in the day, drink a green juice at breakfast. Try a cold pressed juice to retain maximum goodness from your ingredients, and throw in courgette, broccoli, lemon, apple and fennel.

What are parabens? http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=40

The gist
Parabens are used to prevent the growth of microbes in cosmetics products and can be absorbed through skin, blood and the digestive system [1]. Parabens have been found in biopsies from breast tumors [2] at concentrations similar to those found in consumer products [3]. Parabens may be found in a wide variety of products including shampoos, lotions, deodorants, scrubs and eye makeup, and are found in nearly all urine samples from U.S. adults regardless of ethnic, socioeconomic or geographic backgrounds [4]. Adolescents and adult females had higher levels of methylparaben and propylparaben in their urine than did males of similar ages [5].

What you need to know
Found in: Shampoos, conditioners, lotions, facial and shower cleansers and scrubs
What to look for on the label: Ethylparaben, butylparaben, methylparaben, propylparaben, other ingredients ending in –paraben
Health concerns: Endocrine disruption, developmental and reproductive toxicity, allergies and immunotoxicity
Vulnerable populations: Pregnant women and young children
Regulations: Some forms of parabens are banned in Denmark (propyl and butyl paraben, their isoforms and their salts) in cosmetics products for children up to 3 years

What are parabens?
Parabens are actually several distinct chemicals with a similar molecular structure. Four of these are used frequently in cosmetics: ethylparaben, butylparaben, methylparaben and propylparaben. Methylparaben and propylparaben are the most common of these. Parabens are most common in personal care products that contain significant amounts of water, such as shampoos, conditioners, lotions and facial and shower cleansers and scrubs, in order to discourage the growth of microbes. While Cosmetic Ingredient Review recommends concentration limits for single and total paraben concentration in a single product, these recommendations do not account for exposure to parabens from several products by a single individual [6]. A 2004 UK study detected traces of five parabens in the breast tumors of 19 out of 20 women studied [7]. This small study does not prove a causal relationship between parabens and breast cancer, but it is important because it detected the presence of intact parabens—unaltered by the body’s metabolism—which is an indication of the chemical’s ability to penetrate skin and remain in breast tissue. A more recent study found higher levels of one paraben, n-propylparaben, in the axilla quadrant of the breast (the area nearest the underarm) [8]. This is the region in which the highest proportion of breast tumors are found, although paraben concentration in the tissue samples was not related to location of breast tumors in individual women. What are the health concerns?
Endocrine disruption: Of greatest concern is that parabens are known to disrupt hormone function, an effect that is linked to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity. Parabens mimic estrogen by binding to estrogen receptors on cells. They also increase the expression of genes usually regulated by estradiol (a natural form of estrogen); these genes cause human breast cancer cells to grow and multiply in cellular studies [9]. Parabens are also linked to cancer, reproductive toxicity, immunotoxicity, neurotoxicity and skin irritation [10]. Since parabens are used to kill bacteria in water-based solutions, they inherently have some toxicity to cells [11].
How can you avoid this?
Look for products labeled “paraben-free” and read ingredient lists on labels to avoid products with parabens. Many natural and organic cosmetics manufacturers have found effective alternatives to parabens to prevent microbial growth in personal care products. Some companies have created preservative-free products that have shorter shelf lives than conventional products (six months to a year), but if used daily are likely to be used up before they expire.

Normalize Your Blood Sugar http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=38

What happens if you remove the blood sugar-raising foods? What’s left then?

For example this:

Foods that don’t raise blood sugar

More and more diabetics in Sweden have tested eating foods that don’t raise blood sugar. Foods with fewer carbohydrates and a higher proportion of fat, LCHF foods.

They usually notice that starting with the first meal, their blood sugar improves. The need for medications, especially insulin, is dramatically reduced. Substantial weight loss usually follows. Finally, they usually feel a lot better, more alert and improve many health markers.

More and more doctors (I’m far from the only one) advise similarly with great results. More and more people question the old blood sugar-raising carbohydrate-rich advice, even in the media.

Since the Fall of 2011 the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare has recommended a low-carbohydrate diet with diabetes. There’s a big change in the air today and you do not have to wait.

Causes and symptoms of enzyme depletion http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=37

Enzymes are substances that make life possible. They are needed for every chemical reaction that takes place in the human body. Without enzymes, not activity at all would take place. Neither vitamins, minerals, nor hormones can do any work without enzymes. This is what makes enzyme depletion especially concerning, and why it needs to stop in the interest of human health.

How enzymes and digestion works

The human body makes approximately 22 digestive enzymes, capable of digesting protein, carbohydrates, sugars, and fats. Food is digested in stages, beginning in the mouth, moving to the stomach, and finally through the small intestine. At each step, specific enzymes break down different types of foods.

As enzymes begin digesting food in the mouth and continue to do the same in the stomach, plant enzymes also become active. The food then enters the upper portion of the small intestine where the pancreas provides pancreatic enzymes to further break down food. The final breakdown of remaining small molecules of food occurs in the smaller lower intestine. Ideally, the different types of enzymes work together to help digest food and deliver nutrients to cells to maintain their health.

Causes of enzyme depletion

Unfortunately, enzymes are being depleted at every stage from seed to plate. This has caused enzyme deficiencies in the human body that leads to all kinds of health conditions. The main causes of enzyme depletion include:

• Pesticides and chemicals
• Hybridization and genetic engineering
• Bovine growth hormone
• Pasteurization
• Irradiated food
• Excess intake of unsaturated and hydrogenated fats
• Cooking at high temperatures
• Microwaving
• Radiation and electromagnetic fields
• Geopathic stress zones
• Fluoridated water
• Heavy metals
• Mercury amalgam dental fillings
• Root canals

Health conditions caused by enzyme deficiencies

Due to their critical role in a variety of functions in the body, enzyme deficiencies can cause many health related symptoms, and many of them can be traced back to the type of enzymes depleted. The following are some of those health conditions associated with each of the four basic enzymes:

Protease (digests proteins): anxiety, low blood sugar, kidney problems, water retention, depressed immunity, bacterial and viral infections, cancer, appendicitis, bone problems (such as osteoporosis, arthritis, and bone spurs).

Amylase (digests non-fiber carbohydrates): skin problems such as rashes, hives, fungal infections, herpes, and canker sores; lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema; liver or gall bladder disease.

Lipase (digests fats): high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, hardening of the arteries and other cardiovascular problems, chronic fatigue, spastic colon, dizziness.

Cellulase (digests fibers): gas and bloating, acute food allergies, facial pain or paralysis, candidiasis (bowel and vaginal yeast infections).

Basic solutions to overcome enzyme deficiency

To overcome enzyme depletion, consider the following:

• Eat as raw, clean, natural, and fresh as possible.
• Cook food less, and use lower temperatures when possible.
• Use filtered or spring water only.
• Remove heavy metals from the body.

To increase the amount of enzymes in the body, consider the following:

• Foods rich in enzymes such as papaya, pineapples, melons, mango, kiwi, grapes, avocado, raw honey, bee pollen, kefir, fermented vegetables, and wheatgrass.
• Chewing as completely as possible.
• High quality digestive and systemic enzyme supplements.

It takes some time to increase the amount of enzymes in the body, and these are just a few tips to get started. Consider other lifestyle factors as well, to round out a holistic approach to replenishing these life saving nutrients.

How Stress Affects Hair Loss and Natural Treatments http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=36 Is there a correlation between stress and hair loss? For many people, the pace of life is frenetic. Stress is considered a normal part of an extremely busy life. In addition to contributing to hair loss or thinning hair, stress can cause more serious health problems, such as heart attacks and strokes. Reverting to a calmer and more natural lifestyle will improve overall health and give hair a chance to recover.

How Stress Affects Hair

According to The Oxford Dictionary, stress is a demand upon physical or mental energy. Many people struggle to cope with the daily demands of managing finances, work, marriage, running a home, raising children, caring for aging parents and so on. These daily demands are stressful enough on their own but are sometimes exacerbated by an event that can cause severe stress, such as a death in the family.

There are generally two types of stress-induced hair loss: telogen effluvium and alopecia areata.

Telogen effluvium occurs when sudden or severe stress causes an increase in the shedding of hair, which is generally triggered by ongoing stressful events or chronic stress. The condition is generally temporary and hair will typically grow back within 6 to 9 months.

Alopecia areata is more destructive. Intense stress may trigger a type of hair loss called alopecia areata. In this condition, white blood cells attack the hair follicle, which stops hair growth. Hair falls out relatively quickly - typically in clumps or patches within a few weeks of the stressful event. The hair may grow back eventually.

Managing Stress

Learning to manage stress will improve not only the condition of a person's hair, but overall health as well. Try these tips for an improved lifestyle.

Eliminate the causes of stress. Relationship problems? Communicate and sort problems out or move on. Stress from a result of grieving? Join support groups and go through the necessary steps of the grieving process in order to move on. Finances? Stick to a budget, avoid impulse spending and put any extra money into paying off debts. Working too hard? Cut back and re-evaluate - the simple pleasure of time spent with family and friends cannot be bought with money. Unfit and out of shape? Exercise is one of the best ways to de-stress and will certainly benefit overall health.

Massage, meditation, spiritual activities, aromatherapy, a vacation, and time off to read a good book or watch a funny movie can help one to de-stress. Get enough sleep and eat a healthy, balanced diet. These kinds of activities can calm one down and reduce the risk of losing hair due to stress.

Natural Products that Can Help Hair

In addition to learning to manage stress, avoid shampoos and hair products that damage the hair and contribute to hair loss. Commercially manufactured shampoos, conditioners and hair dyes contain chemicals which can damage hair. Always purchase gentle, organic, natural hair care products such as Locsuria Naturals www.locsuria.com.

Coloring Your Hair http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=34

The Different Types of Hair Color

We've all wondered what it would be like to have a different hair color, but maybe you're not ready for the commitment to make a drastic change. And maybe you aren't sure if you can achieve the color you want without doing something permanent. Here's some information to help you understand the types of haircolor available to you.

Temporary Hair Color:

These products are truly temporary, and are usually sold as color rinses. They're used most often to cover or mask gray hair, or to add a subtle (or even a bold) tone toyour natural color. Temporary color sits on the outside of the cuticle and adds color tothe surface of the hair. Temporary hair color won't take you from a darker shade to alighter shade, but it can add some depth and richness to lighter hair. Temporary colorsrarely last beyond your next shampoo. Temporary hair color can be found in a variety ofproducts: rinses which add color to the hair and are styled dry, color mousses which addsubtle color tones, hair mascara for dramatic effects, spray on colors for controlledapplication, and even color-tinted shampoos and conditioners to add depth and longevityto colored hair.

Semi-Permanent and Demi-Permanent Hair Color:

Semi-permanent and demi-permanent hair colors are similar in the way they work, but slightly different in their formulation.

Semi-permanent color is designed to deposit color onto the hair only and has no lightening effect. The formula includes an activator that develops the color and helps to raise the cuticle of the hair shaft so that the color can be deposited there. Semi- permanent color doesn't penetrate into the cortex of the hair, but it will usually last from six to eight weeks, gradually washing out with each shampoo.

Demi-permanent color is also a deposit-only color with no lightening effect. The difference between the Semi- and Demi-permanent colors is that with demi-permanent color the color molecules are smaller and therefore penetrate into the cortex of the hair, as well as being deposited on and in the cuticle. This makes demi-permanent hair color a better choice for covering gray hair. The color achieved also lasts longer, but will fade due to the formulation of smaller color molecules being able to come back through the cuticle with each shampoo.

Permanent Color:

Permanent colors are designed to penetrate the hair shaft and deposit their color directly into the cortex of the hair. The formula contains a developer to raise the cuticle and allow the color molecules to penetrate into the cortex, and also contain aniline derivatives which combine with hydrogen peroxide to produce larger tint molecules which are then trapped inside the cortex.

By virtue of their formulation, permanent hair colors are able to deposit color, but can also be used to lighten the color of the hair, depending upon the strength of the hydrogen peroxide used as a developer. If the desired result is simply the addition of color with no lightening in level, then your colorist will typically use a 10-volume peroxide developer. To lighten the hair one-to-two levels and add a color, 20-volume peroxide will be good. 30 and 40-volume peroxides are available to lighten the base level even more, but remember that the stronger the peroxide the harsher the effect on your hair. It is best that you never use anything stronger than 20-volume peroxide developerwithout the assistance of a professional to closely monitor the results.

Q: Will coloring damage my hair? http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=33

Hair Coloring and Damage

Q: Will coloring damage my hair?

A: All permanent hair coloring processes use hydrogen peroxide to develop the color. This has the effect of raising the cuticle layer to enable the penetration of the hair shaft by the color molecules. Even deposit-only permanent haircolor raises the cuticle. This can be damaging to your hair.

If you have darker hair and are trying to make it lighter, then you have to use stronger formulas of peroxide. The same goes for hair lighteners which have to open the cuticle enough to allow the peroxide and bleach to disperse the color molecules already in the hair shaft. The lighter you go from your natural color, the more damage that can and will occur as a result.

A raised cuticle allows moisture to pass into and out of the hair more readily. Many of the hair coloring kits on the market today include acid-balancing conditioners for use after coloring to "seal" the hair. This means that they help to contract the cuticle layer back to a more normal state. This makes the color last longer, and also helps the hair to stay healthier and retain its necessary moisture.

The best haircolor formulas include conditioning agents in the haircolor itself, which in a deposit-only haircolor (where the hair's level is not lightened at all) can leave the hair feeling healthier than before it was colored. The key is to choose your haircolor wisely, and be wise about the results you want to achieve.

You should never try to lift your hair's level more than 3-to-4 levels in one process. I, personally, recommend that women never try to lift their level more than 3-to-4 levels, period. Even with jet black hair, 3-to-4 levels of lift is sufficient to give you a wide variety of colors to choose from. To try to lift the hair further (for example, from dark brown to pale blonde) is only asking for trouble.

Remember, once hair has been too severely damaged, there is nothing that can be done to repair it, only minimize the appearance of the damage.

Cetearyl Alcohol Explained http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=31 Cetearyl alcohol often appears on ingredient lists

We all know what fat is.  And we all know what alcohol is.  But how about a fatty alcohol?

Chemically speaking there isn’t much difference between a fat and an oil.  The definition is basically that if it is solid it is a fat, if it is liquid it is an oil.  But they are all

triglycerides, made up of long fatty or oily chains three of which are linked to a glycerin.  If you break down a fat you get glycerin and fatty acids.  It is easy to separate these because glycerin is soluble in water so you just wash it out.  You are then left with the fatty acids.  There are a lot of different kinds of fatty acid but they all share the same basic structure of having a long fat chain with a reactive acid group at the end.  Stearic acid is a typical example.

The acid group can be a nuisance because of its reactivity, so the acid group can be transformed into a much less reactive alcohol.  And there you have your fatty alcohol.  In fact the conversion to an alcohol makes a very interesting waxy material.  Fatty alcohol chains come in all shapes and sizes and by playing around with different proportions of different alcohols you can get quite a lot of control of the texture of the product you are making.

Cetearyl alcohol is a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohol and is popular with formulators of beauty products because it is a very versatile choice.  It is used in loads of different kinds of products from baby oils to shampoos,  but is really useful in skin creams.  When you look on ingredient lists you will see that sometimes a whole set of fatty alcohols have been used – this is often evidence of someone spending ages fiddling to get just the effect that they are after.  I’ve put a list of some popular fatty alcohols at the bottom of the post.  If this post proves popular I might do so posts on some of the other fatty alcohols.

Cetearyl alcohol and the other fatty alcohols have had a fairly easy ride from the scaremongers.  But the Environmental Working Group rarely let you down when you are looking for nonsense.  The Skin Deep database lists it as a suspected environmental toxin.  Given that it is easily biodegradable I can’t imagine what gives rise to these suspicions.  If you asked the average micro-organism it would probably describe it as not just as readily biodegradable but as positively tasty.  Another surprising concern was expressed to me once by a very intelligent and well educated young muslim woman who noticed the word alcohol on the ingredient list for, if I remember rightly, Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion.  She was bothered as to whether using it would violate her religion’s ban on alcohol.   I was able to reassure her that it had nothing to do with alcohol produced by fermentation.

Another issue is the source of the fat or oil from which the fatty alcohol is derived.  Triglycerides are found in all kinds of living organisms.  It is perfectly possible to get them from plant or animal sources – or even from more unconventional feedstocks.  I doubt it will ever be economical to do so, but it would be quite feasible to produce them from micro-organisms via some kind of biotechnology.

A story went round a couple of years ago that a gang in Peru were extracting fat from human victims for use in cosmetics.  It was a gruesome story but the chemistry was straightforward enough.  Humans would make as good a source as any.  But as exactly the same material can easily be produced from plant sources cheaply and in great quantities I am not sure what exactly the motivation of the Peruvian villains was.  The bulk of feedstocks for the cosmetics industry has always been plants, but tallow was used as well until recently.  This stopped with the BSE crisis.  Governments around the world brought in regulations to ensure that BSE could not get into the food chain.  This had the effect of making animal sourced fats more expensive and that has to all intents and purposes stopped their use.  Vegetarians would probably be pleased to hear that, but I don’t think any company has made a point of highlighting its vegetarian status. The CAS numbers for cetearyl alcohol are 67762-27-0  and 8005-44-5.  Cetearyl alcohol is the name that you have to use on an ingredient list but it is usually referred to as cetostearyl alcohol.  No safety concerns have ever been raised with this material and it is so easily made that it is a very cost effective material in most applications.  The thing to watch out for though is the differences between grades.  Because it is a blend of fatty alcohols the distribution of chain lengths can vary a lot from supplier to supplier.  Particularly where it is being used as an emulsion stabiliser the more diverse the chain length the better it is.  Purer is definitely not better.  The chain length distribution will have a big effect on the liquid crystal structure too, so it might well affect how actives are delivered from a formulation.  Just because this material is cheap and familiar doesn’t mean a formulator can fail to treat it with respect.

Sugar Overload Side Effects - It can cause Hair Loss! http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=30
Sugar Overload Side Effects thumbnail Watch your sugar intake.

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2005, recommend eating 8 teaspoons of sugar daily as a discretionary calorie allowance, which means that as long as you have eaten nutrient-rich foods from the other food groups, you can eat this sugar. Any more than that can result in tooth decay, heart disease, diabetes and obesity. However, there are other, less obvious, side effects to eating too much sugar.

  1. Blood Sugar Level Fluctuations

    • PBS Teachers state that a 12-ounce can of cola contains 9 teaspoons and a can of orange soda contains 12. Eating a lot of sugar -- such as that in a can of cola -- causes your blood sugar to rise quickly; in turn causing an insulin burst that results in your liver turning the excess sugar into fats. The insulin lingers in our blood, causing a craving for yet more sugar. The fluctuating blood sugar levels result in fatigue, exhaustion, headaches, migraines and mood swings.

    Immunity Depression

    • According to Ask Dr. Sears, too much sugar can "reduce the ability of white blood cells to kill germs by 40 percent." Sugar also feeds the bacteria and yeast in our blood stream, resulting in them multiplying. This causes an imbalance in our blood, thus weakening or suppressing our immune system. It starts less than 30 minutes after ingestion and may carry on for up to five hours afterwar

  1. Chromium Deficiency

    • Your body's ability to control sugar levels can decrease. Chromium is an important nutrient, and as sugar does not provide any nutrients, it could result on your supplies depleting. Chromium also is important for brain function and other body processes.

    Release of Stress Hormones

    • The body releases the adrenaline, cortisol and epinephrine to help bring sugar levels back under control. These are stress hormones and result in feelings of irritability and anxiety.

    Appearing Older

    • Glycation can occur. This is a process where part of the sugar we consume sticks to the protein in our body, resulting in our internal organs and our skin losing elasticity. This, in turn, hastens the signs of aging.

Product Overload Leads to Damaged Hair! http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=29

Product Overload Leads to Damaged Hair

The look of “natural” hair may currently be a popular trend, but ironically, the steps to achieving a free-flowing hairstyle are often anything but natural. Some people may simply leave hair in its natural state to get fresh and healthy locks but many apply multiple hair products for the same appearance. Women use thousands of hair products ranging from shampoos and conditioners to gels and mousses to style their tresses. The various products help style hair into a sleek ponytail or voluminous curls, but product overload leaves hair damaged.

All human hair is made up of natural oils that produce sheen and texture. The natural oils already give hair body and protection, but when individuals use several hair products simultaneously and in great amounts, hair appears greasy and flat. Applying many hair care ointments at once also causes product build-up which leaves tresses lying limp. According to Barbara Lhotan, an expert on curly hair, “If your hair starts to feel coated, crunchy or looks limp and flat, you may be the victim of build-up.” Because hair is so delicate, product build-up obstructs natural textures which leads to lifeless hair.

While styling hair, people often overuse heating appliances such as curling irons, blow dryers and straighteners. Using hot tools everyday and at their maximum temperature literally burns hair follicles which produces frizziness. Rinsing hair with hot water also causes dullness. When hot water hits the hair, hair cuticles open and become loose which leads to frizz. Cool water on the other hand shuts cuticles, keeping hair strands tamed and shiny.

Another mistake people make when caring for their hair is using too much shampoo. Although shampooing cleanses tresses, washing hair everyday or multiple times a day strips it of consistency and natural oils such as sebum. In an npr.org article, Michelle Hanjani, M.D., Assistant Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Columbia University, said, “If you wash your hair every day, you’re removing the sebum. Then the oil glands compensate by producing more oil.”

This delicious little fruit can be bought at your local grocery store any time of the year, for a not-too-shabby price might I add! Avocado is a great source of Vitamin E, which boosts the skin’s vitality. Not only does it contain Vitamin E, but also C as well, which is a cure for inflammation. Try eating it with chips in Guacamole dip, or put it on a dinner/lunchtime meal! Delicious and healthy and inexpensive? It’s a win-win-win!

IRON DEFICIENCY AND ITS EFFECT ON HAIR http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=27

If your hair is thinning, an iron deficiency may be to blame. Ask your doctor for these tests to determine what you can do to help your hair.

Q: My doctor tested my iron level in the office, and it came up a little on the low side, but still normal. My thyroid, blood sugar, and all other blood tests turned out normal. Is there anything else I should test that might explain my hair loss?

A: Since your iron tested low–normal, be sure to eat lots of iron–rich protein (coupled with vitamin C, if you’re vegetarian) for the next several weeks. This will help bring your iron levels back into the mid–normal range.

You might also want to go back to your doctor and ask for a more extensive test for iron levels. There are actually three main tests for iron: serum iron, which measures the amount of iron in blood; ferritin, which is a measure of the amount of iron stored in the body; and TIBC — Total Iron Binding Capacity — which is a measure of how much iron could be/should be in the body.

Many doctors will only test serum iron, but unless you have severe anemia, serum iron can appear normal even if ferritin and TIBC are low. The other two tests are more sensitive. Low ferritin means low iron stores, which means that you may need more iron. High TIBC means that your body has a big gap between how much iron the body has at its disposal and how much it needs. Both of these tests can be used to help diagnose iron-deficiency anemia or pre-anemia. Talk with your doctor about these additional tests. Your iron levels may yet be the problem. You may be a candidate for a supplemental dose, but don’t try self-diagnosing this problem — never take iron pills unless a medical professional confirms you need them.

LICORICE ROOT HEALTH BENEFITS http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=26

Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza Glabra)

Licorice Root Benefits

Licorice root has an impressive list of well documented uses and is probably one of the most over-looked of all herbal remedies. It is used for many ailments including asthma, athlete's foot, baldness, body odour, bursitis, canker sores, chronic fatigue, depression, colds and flu, coughs, dandruff, emphysema, gingivitis and tooth decay, gout, heartburn, HIV, viral infections, fungal infections, ulcers, liver problems, Lyme disease, menopause, psoriasis, shingles, sore throat, tendinitis, tuberculosis, ulcers, yeast infections, prostate enlargement and arthritis.

Licorice root contains many anti-depressant compounds and is an excellent alternative to St. John's Wort. As a herbal medicine it has an impressive list of well documented uses and is probably one of the most over-looked of all herbal wonders. Licorice is useful for many ailments including asthma, athlete's foot, baldness, body odor, bursitis, canker sores, chronic fatigue, depression, colds and flu, coughs, dandruff, emphysema, gingivitis and tooth decay, gout, heartburn, HIV, viral infections, fungal infections, ulcers, liver problems, Lyme disease, menopause, psoriasis, shingles, sore throat, tendinitis, tuberculosis, ulcers, yeast infections, prostate enlargement and arthritis.

Hundreds of potentially healing substances have been identified in licorice as well, including compounds called flavonoids and various plant estrogens (phytoestrogens). The herb's key therapeutic compound, glycyrrhizin (which is 50 times sweeter than sugar) exerts numerous beneficial effects on the body, making licorice a valuable herb for treating a host of ailments. It seems to prevent the breakdown of adrenal hormones such as cortisol (the body's primary stress-fighting adrenal hormone), making these hormones more available to the body.

It has a well-documented reputation for healing ulcers. It can lower stomach acid levels, relieve heartburn and indigestion and acts as a mild laxative.

It can also be used for irritation, inflammation and spasm in the digestive tract. Through its beneficial action on the liver, it increases bile flow and lowers cholesterol levels.

Licorice also appears to enhance immunity by boosting levels of interferon, a key immune system chemical that fights off attacking viruses. It also contains powerful antioxidants as well as certain phytoestrogens that can perform some of the functions of the body's natural estrogens; very helpful during the menopause. Glycyrrhizinic acid also seems to stop the growth of many bacteria and of viruses such as influenza A.

In the respiratory system it has a similarly soothing and healing action, reducing irritation and inflammation and has an expectorant effect, useful in irritating coughs, asthma and chest infections.

It has an aspirin-like action and is helpful in relieving fevers and soothing pain such as headaches. Its anti-allergenic effect is very useful for hay fever, allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis and bronchial asthma. Possibly by its action on the adrenal glands, licorice has the ability to improve resistance to stress. It should be thought of during times of both physical and emotional stress, after surgery or during convalescence, or when feeling tired and run down.

Licorice with glycyrrhizin may help to:

Control respiratory problems and sore throat. Licorice eases congestion and coughing by helping to loosen and thin mucus in airways; this makes a cough more "productive," bringing up phlegm and other mucus bits. Licorice also helps to relax bronchial spasms. The herb also soothes soreness in the throat and fights viruses that cause respiratory illnesses and an overproduction of mucus.

Lessen symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. By enhancing cortisol activity, glycyrrhizin helps to increase energy, ease stress and reduce the symptoms of ailments sensitive to cortisol levels, such as chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromylagia.

Combat hepatitis. Licorice both protects the liver and promotes healing in this vital organ. The herb's anti-inflammatory properties help calm hepatitis-associated liver inflammation. Licorice also fights the virus commonly responsible for hepatitis and supplies valuable antioxidant compounds that help maintain the overall health of the liver.

Treat PMS and menstrual problems. The phytoestrogens in licorice have a mild estrogenic effect, making the herb potentially useful in easing certain symptoms of PMS (premenstrual syndrome), such as irritability, bloating and breast tenderness. Although the glycyrrhizin in licorice actually inhibits the effect of the body's own estrogens, the mild estrogenic effect produced by licorice's phytoestrogens manages to override this inhibiting action.

Prevent heart disease. Recent studies have found that by limiting the damage from LDL ("bad") cholesterol, licorice may discourage artery-clogging plaque formation and contribute to the healthy functioning of the heart. Research indicates that modest doses of licorice (100 mg a day) have this effect.

Anti-allergic, anti-arthritic, anti-inflammatory, demulcent, emollient, estrogenic (mild), expectorant, laxative, pectoral (moderate), soothing

Indicated for

Addison's disease, allergic rhinitis, arthritis, athlete's foot, baldness, bronchitis, bursitis, canker sores, catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, chronic fatigue, colds, colitis and intestinal infections, conjunctivitis, constipation, coughs, dandruff, depression, duodenal-ulcers, emphysema, exhaustion, fibromyalgia, flu, fungal infections, gastritis, gingivitis and tooth decay, gout, hayfever, heartburn, hepatitis, inflamed gallbladder, liver disease, Lyme disease, menopause, prostate enlargement, psoriasis, shingles, sore throat, spleen disorders, tendinitis, throat problems, tuberculosis, ulcers, viral infections, yeast infections. Reducing stomach acid and relieving heartburn and indigestion. Increasing bile flow and lowering cholesterol. Improving resistance to physical and emotional stress.

Do not confuse with licorice confectionery which contains very little, if any, licorice and is in fact flavoured by anise.

Can cause water retention and raised blood pressure. Prolonged use should be avoided if you suffer from high blood pressure.

Can cause mild adrenal stimulation.

JUICING TO ASSIST HAIR GROWTH http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=24

Hair growth is most effectively encouraged from the inside of your body, via your diet. Juicing for hair growth can help slow down the rate at which you are losing your tresses, and even help you grow them back.

Cucumber is high in potassium, manganese, silica and sulfur. The silica in cucumber, especially when combined with carrots, works well in juicing for hair growth. The silica in cucumber juice also improves the condition of your skin and fingernails. Cucumber is largely water and hydrates your body thoroughly.

Read more about juicing health benefits

These juicer recipes taste delicious, can help to encourage a thicker mane, and dramatically improve your overall health.

A juice to do the trick
• ½ Cucumber
• 5 Large Carrots, ends trimmed
• 1 Apple

This is an easy-to-drink blend that is light, sweet, and very pleasant tasting. The apple sweetens the juice and also helps promote healthy digestion.

A drink for the health of your tresses
• ¼ Cucumber
• 4 Large Carrots, ends trimmed
• 1 Large Tomato

The tomato adds Lycopene, which helps the body fight the production of cancerous cells. The high amount of Vitamin A in both carrots and tomatoes also increases the capacity of this juice to improve the health and possibly even the growth rate of your tresses.

Cleansing juice to promote growth
• 5 Large Carrots, ends trimmed
• ½ Cucumber
• ½ Small beet

Beets are extremely cleansing when in liquid form and boost the body’s immunity against many types of cancers, as well as common ailments and aches. Beets should be used in small portions and only when diluted with other vegetables.

Apple Carrot Celery Juice

Make sure to wash the vegetables very thoroughly before processing. The way that you cut your vegetables prior to juicing will depend largely on how strong your juicer is and the shape of the processor.

Aside from the fact that certain recipes can help aid in the growth of your locks, it is also extremely healthy for your body; arguably one of the best things that you can do for yourself, nutritionally. The appearance of locks is one of those superficial things that can actually be a pretty good indicator of how healthy your body is. For example, being dehydrated, sleep deprived or short on nutrients can very well make it appear stressed or overly dry. Juicing is a way to take care of the more superficial statuses of health from the inside out.

10 Argan Oil Benefits for Hair and Skin

Often called ‘liquid gold’, argan oil is an organic product extracted from the kernels of the argan tree, which is native to Morocco. It is extremely rich in beneficial nutrients including fatty acids and vitamin E. Its properties make it particularly beneficial for the hair and skin, which makes it a popular cosmetic choice for many celebrities. It’s not just for the rich and famous, though – anyone can reap the argan oil benefits for their body. Here are some of its most common uses.

1. Skin Moisturiser

With its high vitamin E and fatty acid content, argan oil is the ideal product to give skin a natural boost. It absorbs easily and is non-greasy and non-irritating, which makes it a great natural moisturiser.

It is easy to use all over the body, including the face and neck. Simply smooth a few drops into your skin using gentle rubbing motions, as you would any face and body lotion.

2. Hair Conditioner

3. Sleek and Shine Styling

shiny-straight-hairDue to its ability to tame frizz and give hair shine, argan oil is also commonly used as a styling agent. It makes hair more manageable and adds a healthy, attractive shine to any hair style. This is an ideal step to add to your daily routine after blow-drying. Rub a few drops of argan oil over your palms and then comb your fingers through your hair to apply.

4. Anti-Aging

Not only does argan oil act as an effective moisturiser, it can also give skin a youthful glow and reduce the visibility of wrinkles. Its anti-oxidant effect makes argan oil the ideal anti-aging product. It restores elasticity and leaves skin feeling plumper and softer.

The best way to apply argan oil for the most prominent anti-aging effects is to massage a few drops into your face and neck before bed. It acts as a moisturiser and anti-ager all in one.

5. Dry Skin Conditions

People suffering from dry skin or conditions such as eczema which can leave skin raw, flaky and itchy will benefit immensely from argan oil. The vitamin E and fatty acids in argan oil are excellent for repairing damaged skin and providing it with nutrients which will prevent further dryness and irritation. Argan oil also contains ingredients which soothe skin. Applying a small amount of oil directly to afflicted skin and massaging in gently can provide relief and encourage healing.

6. Acne

Where many oils and moisturisers can exacerbate skin conditions such as acne, argan oil actually soothes afflicted skin and promotes healing. Acne is often the result of oily skin. Since argan oil is non-greasy, it helps to balance skin by providing natural moisture. Argan oil also contains anti-oxidants which help to heal damaged skin cells and reduce inflammation.

Applying a few drops of argan oil to skin afflicted by acne after cleansing and patting dry ensures that essential moisture and nutrients are introduced to clean, dry skin. Rubbing in gently and repeating twice daily can help clear up mild acne as well as balancing oily or dry skin.

7. Protection and Healing

The antioxidants in argan oil are generally beneficial for healing skin which is irritated, cracked, damaged or even burned. It is best used as a preventive for dry or sore skin, but it can also be used to speed up healing. Its properties include reducing inflammation, soothing pain and increasing healing rate.

Smoothing a few drops of argan oil into sore or damaged skin helps to speed up the healing process.

8. Pregnancy

Stretch marks are an issue for many pregnant women, but argan oil is the ideal protection against stretch marks and sagging, puckered skin after birth. Argan oil increases the elasticity of skin due to its vitamin E content. Using a few drops of argan oil to rub into breasts, stomach, bottom and thighs during pregnancy will reduce the likelihood of developing unsightly stretch marks.

Argan oil is also idea for keeping skin and hair soft, healthy and hydrated during pregnancy.

9. Foot, Hand and Nail Treatment

Argan oil’s softening properties are ideal for brittle nails, dry hands and cracked, hard skin on feet. It both moisturises and softens skin, leaving hands and feet supple and soft and nails strong and healthy. Try massaging a few drops of argan oil into cuticles, hands and feet before bed each night.

10. Lip Moisturiser

Especially in cold or dry weather, lips can easily become sore, dry and cracked. Argan oil is the ideal product to ensure lips stay plump, soft and supple. Rub a drop or two into dry lips as a balm – but be sure to wipe off any excess.

IS PROTECTIVE STYLING REALLY PROTECTING? http://www.locsuria.ca/blog.php?d=20

Protective Hairstyling is a term used to describe wearing a Wig, Braiding or Twisting by adding synthetic hair, and Weave Styles for prolonged period of time.

Some says that it is a Myth while others believe that it is necessary for Hair Growth.  There are many Women who have achieved length from protective styles; but there are some who never yield results despite their efforts.

The ultimate result from wearing protective hairstyles is:

TANGLING - from being untouched for long period of time. It seems like a waste of time to take down that particular style given it took hours to install then to remove it quickly.

DRYNESS - from the hair being left uncared for far too long.

BREAKAGE - is inevitable because of the type of hair fiber used for attachment as well as some do not engage in hair conditioning.

A hairstyle do not guarantee Healthy Hair.  Good haircare practices will reduce the changes for hair damage. Honor Your Hair!
